Functional Medicine - FAQ

With Board-Certified Nutritionist Jennifer Clemente, Body Bliss Nutrition

What is Functional Medicine Nutrition?
Functional Medicine Nutrition is a deeply personalized form of care that looks beyond symptom management to uncover how and why health issues arise in the first place. It considers you as a whole—your body systems, genetics, lifestyle, and environment—to create a foundation for lasting healing.
How does this differ from conventional nutrition or medicine?
Rather than simply treating isolated symptoms, Functional Medicine Nutrition treats each person as biochemically unique. It evaluates interconnected systems, targeting foundational root causes—whether digestive imbalance, hormonal disruption, or inflammation—through food, lifestyle, and tailored protocols.
Who is this approach right for?
If you’re dealing with chronic symptoms (like gut issues, fatigue, mood imbalances), have felt unheard in standard medical settings, or want to optimize your health rather than mask symptoms, Functional Medicine Nutrition can offer clarity and results.
What types of testing are involved?
Your care includes advanced testing for nutritional status, gut microbiome, hormone balance, food sensitivities, toxins, and more. These reveal invisible imbalances, enabling precision nutrition strategies rather than guesswork.
Will I have to follow a strict diet?

While therapeutic phases may require some dietary adjustments, Jennifer works with you to make plans realistic, satisfying, and sustainable.

Can this work alongside my conventional care?
Absolutely. We collaborate with your existing healthcare providers to safely integrate your nutrition plan, testing, and interventions—complementing conventional care, not competing with it.

Microbiome Restoration - FAQ

With Board-Certified Nutritionist Jennifer Clemente, Body Bliss Nutrition

What is Microbiome Restoration?
Microbiome Restoration is the process of rebalancing your gut’s microbial ecosystem to support optimal digestion, nutrient absorption, immune function, hormone balance, and detoxification. This process involves identifying and addressing microbial imbalances, healing the gut lining, and rebuilding resilience with tailored nutrition, testing, and protocols.
How does the Microbiome Restoration Program work?
The program follows a structured, three-phase model: Assess & Test: We begin with comprehensive lab testing using tools like the GI-MAP stool analysis to uncover imbalances, pathogens, inflammation, or digestive inefficiency. Cleanse & Rebuild: Based on your results, a customized protocol is created to remove disruptive pathogens (e.g., candida, parasites, H. pylori), soothe inflammation, repair the gut lining, and begin reintroducing beneficial microbes, enzymes, and bile acids. Restore & Sustain: You’ll transition into long‑term health by building a microbiome-supportive diet, refining stress and lifestyle habits, and reinforcing gut-brain and immune connections.
What symptoms or conditions can benefit from this program?
When the gut microbiome is disrupted, the effects can extend far beyond digestion. Clients commonly experience improvements in: brain fog, fatigue, skin issues, mood fluctuations, immune function, digestion, inflammation, hormone regulation, sleep, weight stability, and even pain reduction.
What can I expect as outcomes of the Microbiome Restoration Program?

Participants often report noticeable shifts in:

  • Improved digestion (less bloating, gas, constipation, or diarrhea)
  • Increased, sustained energy from better nutrient absorption
  • Deeper, more restorative sleep
  • Clearer skin
  • Weight normalization or loss
  • Reduced food sensitivities
  • Sharper mental focus and reduced brain fog
  • Stronger immune function
  • Greater emotional resilience and mood stability
  • Balanced hormones
  • Reduced inflammation and discomfort
  • A solid foundation for long-term health optimization
Is this program integrated with Functional Medicine Nutrition?
Absolutely. The Microbiome Restoration Program is a core part of the Body Bliss Nutrition Method—rooted in Functional Medicine Nutrition, which seeks to identify and address the root causes of health issues using personalized protocols.
Can this work alongside my conventional care?

Absolutely. We collaborate with your existing healthcare providers to safely integrate your nutrition plan, testing, and interventions—complementing conventional care, not competing with it.

Detoxification Programs FAQ

With Board-Certified Nutritionist Jennifer Clemente, Body Bliss Nutrition

What is the purpose of a detoxification program?
Our detox programs are designed to support your body’s natural ability to eliminate toxins, reduce inflammation, and restore cellular function. By addressing toxic burden, we help reset key systems such as digestion, liver function, hormones, and immunity.
How do I know if I need a detox?
Common signs of toxic overload include fatigue, brain fog, digestive issues, skin breakouts, joint pain, bloating, headaches, and poor sleep. If you’re feeling “off” and haven’t found answers through conventional care, detoxification may be the missing piece.
What makes your detox programs different?
We use a science-based, functional medicine approach that includes lab testing, medical-grade supplements, and food-based protocols. Unlike extreme or trendy detoxes, our programs are safe, supported, and personalized to your body’s needs.
Do I have to follow a strict diet during the detox?
Our programs include a structured anti-inflammatory or elimination diet that removes common irritants like gluten, dairy, alcohol, and processed foods. We guide you with meal plans, recipes, and nutrient-rich options to keep you nourished and satisfied.
Can I still exercise while detoxing?
Yes, gentle movement is encouraged! Depending on your energy levels, light activity like walking, stretching, or yoga is ideal. We’ll help you modify your fitness routine if needed.
How do I get started?
Start with a complimentary discovery call or initial consultation. We’ll discuss your goals, symptoms, and determine the best detox plan for your needs.

Curated Supplements - FAQ

With Board-Certified Nutritionist Jennifer Clemente, Body Bliss Nutrition

Why should I use your curated supplements instead of buying on my own?

Our curated supplements are clinically vetted, third-party tested, and dosed for therapeutic benefit. Store-bought brands often contain fillers, ineffective doses, or poor-quality ingredients that can slow your healing or create unwanted side effects.

Are your supplements safe to take with my medications?

Yes—before recommending anything, we review your full medical history, medications, and lab results to avoid interactions and ensure safe, supportive use.

How do I know which supplements I need?

We personalize every protocol based on your functional lab testing, symptoms, and health goals. You won’t be given a long list of random products—only what’s necessary, effective, and aligned with your body’s needs.

Where do your supplements come from?

We work exclusively with trusted, practitioner-grade brands that meet the highest industry standards for safety, purity, and efficacy. All products are manufactured in GMP-certified facilities and third-party tested.

Can I buy these supplements in stores?

Most of the supplements we recommend are professional-grade formulas available only through licensed practitioners. This ensures quality control and proper use under guidance.

What if I react to a supplement?

If you experience any issues, we’re here to help. We’ll evaluate the reaction, adjust your protocol, and find an alternative that supports your healing without causing discomfort.

How do I order or refill my supplements?

We provide convenient access through our online dispensary. You’ll receive clear instructions and can reorder with just a few clicks

Meditation - FAQ

With Board-Certified Nutritionist Jennifer Clemente, Body Bliss Nutrition

What type of meditation do you recommend?
We recommend mindfulness-based practices, breath awareness, guided meditations, or body scans—each tailored to your needs. There’s no “one right way.” We help you find a method that feels sustainable and supportive.
How often should I meditate?
Even 5–10 minutes a day can make a meaningful impact. Consistency is more important than duration. Over time, you can gradually increase your practice as it becomes part of your daily routine.
What if I can't clear my mind?
That’s okay—meditation isn’t about stopping thoughts. It’s about observing them without judgment. With practice, your mind naturally quiets, and your ability to return to the present moment strengthens.
Can meditation really improve physical health?
Yes. Studies show that meditation can lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation, balance hormones, and support digestion by calming the nervous system. It’s a powerful tool in our functional medicine toolkit.
What if I get restless or distracted?
That’s completely normal. Meditation is a skill—the act of noticing distraction and returning to your breath is the practice itself. We’ll guide you with simple techniques that fit your lifestyle and comfort level.
Do I need any equipment to get started?
No equipment is necessary. Just a quiet space and a few uninterrupted minutes. You can also use guided meditations via apps, audio files, or tools we provide as part of your program.
How does meditation fit into my nutrition plan?
Mind-body practices like meditation enhance digestion, reduce cortisol-driven cravings, and improve your ability to make intentional food choices. It’s a key part of your overall wellness strategy.

Micronutrient Testing - FAQ

With Board-Certified Nutritionist Jennifer Clemente, Body Bliss Nutrition

How is this testing different from standard bloodwork?
Standard labs measure what’s in your blood at one point in time. Micronutrient testing looks inside your cells to see how nutrients are actually being utilized, giving a more accurate long-term view.
Do I have to stop my supplements before testing?
In some cases, yes. Jennifer will guide you on how to prepare properly for the most accurate results.
Is this test covered by insurance?
Most functional lab tests are not covered, but may be eligible for HSA/FSA reimbursement. Jennifer provides supporting documentation when needed.
Is testing safe and easy?
Yes. It involves a simple blood draw, either through a partnering lab or via mobile phlebotomy, depending on your location.
How often should I retest?
Jennifer typically recommends retesting every 6–12 months, depending on your symptoms and progress.

Functional Blood Testing & Analysis FAQ

With Board-Certified Nutritionist Jennifer Clemente, Body Bliss Nutrition

How is this different from the blood test my doctor runs?
Functional analysis uses the same labs but evaluates them using optimal ranges—not just disease thresholds. Jennifer also looks at patterns and trends that conventional providers may overlook.
Can you work with labs I already have?
Yes. Jennifer can analyze your recent labs through a functional lens and recommend any additional testing only if necessary.
Is this covered by insurance?
Lab work ordered through your doctor may be covered. Functional interpretation and additional specialty tests may not be, but many clients use HSA/FSA accounts for reimbursement.
Do I need to fast for the test?
Some markers do require fasting. Jennifer provides clear pre-test instructions to ensure accuracy.
How often should I retest?
Most clients retest every 3–6 months to monitor progress and adjust their protocol as needed.

ProLon Fasting Mimicking Diet FAQ

With Board-Certified Nutritionist Jennifer Clemente, Body Bliss Nutrition

What is the ProLon® Fasting Mimicking Diet (FMD)?
ProLon® is a clinically tested 5-day dietary program that nourishes your body while keeping it in a fasting state. It’s designed to trigger cellular rejuvenation and support metabolic health—without the discomfort of traditional water fasting.
How does it work?
The diet provides precise macro- and micronutrient ratios that allow the body to enter a fasting mode while still receiving food. This unique approach activates cellular repair (autophagy), supports fat loss, and promotes overall longevity.
Who is ProLon® ideal for?
ProLon® is great for people looking to support weight loss, cellular health, insulin sensitivity, and inflammation reduction, or for those who want a structured way to reset their health habits.
Can I exercise while on ProLon®?
We recommend light activity only, such as walking or gentle yoga. Strenuous exercise is not advised during the fasting period to allow your body to focus on repair and recovery.
Can I do ProLon® if I have a medical condition?
ProLon® is not recommended for individuals with certain medical conditions (e.g., eating disorders, low BMI, diabetes on insulin, etc.). We always review your medical history before recommending the program to ensure it’s safe and appropriate for you.
